After a workshop in Belgrade, a SESAME Net Workshop with training was organized at the Faculty of Electronic Engineering University in Niš, held on 8th of May, 2017. It attracted 24 SMEs from South Serbia, interested in using HPC technology. SMEs were invited to take part in both, the Regional Economy Chamber and Cluster for Advanced Technologies. After the presentation of SESAME Net project facts and objectives, research/teaching staff from the Faculty of Electronic Engineering presented IT/HPC infrastructure of the Faculty and demonstrated their readiness to offer computational expertise to SMEs from the region.
All SESAME Net partners meet in Barcelona to attend the HPC Summit Week and to promote the outcomes of the project. Coordinator representative, Mr. Tomi Ilijas had a presentation on Tuesday, 16th May on the »PRACE days Industrial Parallel Track-European Industry«. He presented the SESAME Net project and stressed the importance of the “European roadmap for improving SME uptake of HPC”.
Main goal was to spread the information about what the project and related network can offer – targeted on SMEs. The event was a good spot to promote the newly developed HPC4SME Assessment Tool that was launched in early March and to get SMEs doing the assessment process. Altogether during the fair the partners have done more than 30 assessments.

On April 6th the webinar “Efficient use of ARIS hpc.grnet.gr”, organized by GRNET, took place in Athens, Greece. It was addressed to the five (5) greek SMEs that were the result of the selection of the pilot call launched on February 6th, 2017 and can now have access to the national supercomputing facility.Continue reading
A pilot call for proposals was launched by GRNET S.A. on February 6th, 2017 aiming at the extension of usage of the national High Performance Computing system called ARIS, deployed and operated by GRNET, to Small and Medium Enterprises, for the first time in Greece. Until now, the system was open only for academic purposes.Continue reading
After significant developments over the last few months, many improvements have been integrated into the Assessment Tool, which is now available for all SMEs across Europe. For the first time, SMEs will have the opportunity to evaluate their potential to use HPC in cloud, both now and in the future, as well as to benchmark themselves against others.
In celebration of ICHEC’s 10th Anniversary, a public event had been held at the Royal Irish Academy on Wednesday 30th November, with guest Roberto Viola Director General of DG CONNECT presenting a talk on HPC and Competitiveness in Ireland and Europe.Continue reading
The Irish Centre for High-End Computing – ICHEC held a SESAME NET event on Thursday 26th January 2017 to an audience of 25 people representing 10 SMEs, 1 MNC, 1 Public State Organization and 1 Irish State Development Agency. The event consisted of a series of short keynotes presented by four Irish SMEs, in addition to network partners: ICHEC, CESGA and ARCTUR.
