A pilot call for proposals was launched by GRNET S.A. on February 6th, 2017 aiming at the extension of usage of the national High Performance Computing system called ARIS, deployed and operated by GRNET, to Small and Medium Enterprises, for the first time in Greece. Until now, the system was open only for academic purposes.
The call ended on March 23rd, 2017, and resulted at the selection of five (5) Greek SMEs that can now have access to the national supercomputing facility for a maximum period of 6 months.
The selected SMEs can also benefit from the use of SESAME NET HPC4SME assessment tool. After joining the community, all they have to do is to fill in a questionnaire. On the basis of their answers, the assessment process automatically generates a valuable assessment report, positioning the company, listing the strengths and weaknesses of using HPC, together with a set of recommendations on how to improve its potential.
In addition to this, the 5 SMEs will attend a 3-hour webinar in order to get familiar with the ARIS system functionality.
